    Accuracy and Reliability of Swallowing Assessments

    Presenter

    Dr. Murray discloses that he provides continuing education lectures for the Specialty Board for Swallowing and Swallowing Disorders, Continuing Education Programs of America and the English Life Long Learning Program for Dysphagiology.

    • Identify the characteristics of accurate measures of swallow physiology,
    • Identify problems in dysphagia practice that lower judgment accuracy and reliability,
    • Understand the nature of differences in clinician judgment of patient observations,
    • List objective terms for swallow events commonly described with subjective terms, and
    • Select accurate and objective descriptors to describe swallow physiologic events.

    • Identify the design, sample size, internal and external validity of a published study,
    • Identify the clinical importance of a published study
    • Retrieve studies from public repositories of published research, and
    • Rate the quality of published research.
