Presenter

Nancy B. Swigert is the director of Speech-Language Pathology and Respiratory Care at Central Baptist Hospital, an acute care facility in Lexington, KY. She is a Board recognized specialist in swallowing and swallowing disorders. She is a former President of the Kentucky Speech-Language-Hearing Association, the Council of State Association Presidents, and was President of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association in 1998.

Ms. Swigert discloses that she has published a book, The Source for Dysphagia, for Liguisystems.

Duration

The video presentation is approximately two hours long.

Learning Objectives

After completing this session you will be able to:

  • Describe life-saving/life-supporting treatments used for patients who are acutely or critically ill,
  • Discuss different diagnostic procedures used in patients who are acutely or critically ill,
  • Analyze findings from clinical and/or videofluoroscopic and endoscopic evaluations of swallowing and apply these findings to development of a dysphagia management plan.
